Grill, R

A Fresno man wanted by law enforcement on several felony charges was arrested by Sheriff’s deputies this past Friday. Arrested was 26 year old Randy Lee Grill.

Shortly before 10:30am, deputies were driving north on Freeway 99 near Cedar when they observed a gold colored Toyota 4Runner crash onto the shoulder on the southbound lanes.

As deputies got out of their patrol vehicle, they could see the driver, later identified as Grill, had gotten out of the 4Runner and removed a bicycle from the back. As deputies attempted to make contact with Grill, he threw the bicycle over a chain link fence into a RV business, jumped the fence himself, and fled on the bicycle.

As deputies gave chase, citizens directed them to Grill’s location. After a short time, the chain came off of Grill’s bicycle near Cedar & Muscat. He then fled on foot.

Grill ran through a business to the rear lot and appeared to be trapped by the barbed wire topped fence. He then climbed to the roof of a minivan which was parked close enough to the fence for him to jump over.

Grill then ran into the service shop area of Express Trucking Service. He was confronted by one of the employees after he was caught looking into a vehicle that was being worked on. When the employee tried to physically restrain him, Grill broke loose and ran to a parked service vehicle with the engine running. He jumped in the driver seat but was immediately pulled out of the truck and detained until deputies arrived. He was taken into custody without further incident.

The 4Runner was found to be a recently reported stolen vehicle. Deputies recovered several pieces of property from inside the vehicle including a handgun.

The investigation also revealed only three hours earlier, Grill had committed a hot prowl burglary at a residence located in the 5500 block of E Holland. Grill fled without taking any property when he was confronted by the homeowner.

Grill was arrested on multiple counts of burglary, vehicle theft, and possession of stolen property. He was also arrested on carjacking and weapons related charges. More charges may be pending.

Grill was in the media last week when he fled from Fresno PD officers as they attempted to arrest him near downtown Fresno. During that incident, Grill stole a pick-up from a nearby business and fled the area.
