Joseph Turner & Eddie GomezThe Fresno County Sheriff’s Ag Task Force has arrested two men for stealing chemicals during a commercial burglary.

They are 32-year-old Joseph Turner of Riverdale and 34-year-old Eddie Gomez of Caruthers.

On July 15, deputies responded to a ranch located on the 15500 block of S. Highland Ave. in Selma for a break-in at a large metal storage shed.  A worker discovered approximately $1,000 worth of ag chemicals (weed and pest sprays) had been stolen.  While investigating the scene, deputies developed information which lead them to a nearby address on the 14900 block of S. Highland Ave.  They contacted Turner at a home.  He was not the owner, but was living here while working for the property owner.  Detectives served a search warrant and located the stolen chemicals hidden inside the house.  During the search, Gomez drove up to the house.  Detectives learned that Gomez was involved in the burglary, so he was arrested as well.

All of the stolen chemicals were still in the original manufacturer’s boxes and the suspects had planned to sell them for cash on the black market.  The chemicals have since been returned to the rightful owner.

Turner and Gomez were both booked into the Fresno County Jail on felony charges of burglary and possession of stolen property.  Turner also had three outstanding felony warrants.  Both men are currently under Post-Release Community Supervision, which is part of AB109.

Anyone with additional information on these suspects is asked to please contact the Sheriff’s Office at (559) 600-3111 or Crime Stoppers at (559) 498-STOP (7867).
