The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office today announced the arrest of three people in connection with the 2012 dog mauling case which left a Selma man dead.
Earlier this month, felony arrest warrants were issued for the dog owners, 57 year old Raymond Rodriguez Barron, 45 year old Laura Barron, and 82 year old Angie Barron, all of Selma. Late yesterday afternoon, all three subjects turned themselves in on the warrants, and were soon released on bond.
The investigation began on the night of December 11th, when deputies responded to an injured person call at 12606 S Highland Ave. When they arrived, they discovered the body of 34 year old Esteban Alavez lying in the driveway.
During the subsequent investigation, Sheriff’s homicide detectives determined Alavez had been attacked and mauled by several dogs from a nearby residence.
The investigation revealed the same dogs had also attacked other persons and killed other animals in weeks prior to the mauling of Alavez.
The investigation was submitted to the District Attorney’s Office who in turn sought the arrest warrants on charges of owning a knowingly dangerous animal that cause death.
