15 year old suspect

Around 2:00 pm on May 13th, 2020, Fresno County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the 3300 block of E. Clinton Ave. in Fresno for a reported armed robbery and an assault.

The caller said two people robbed her girlfriend and one of them pistol whipped her, causing a large laceration to her head. The young man struck the victim so hard that it broke the handle of his firearm. The young woman was transported to the hospital for medical treatment.

Deputies learned during their investigation that the two suspects, a male and female, met with the victim after agreeing on social media to conduct a deal for some marijuana.  Instead of making a purchase, the male suspect attacked the victim and stole her drugs.

Property detectives got involved and were able to identify the primary suspect as being a 15 year old boy who has gang affiliations.  They went to a neighborhood near E. Butler and S. Cedar Avenues in southeast Fresno and saw the teenager as he was leaving in a vehicle.  Detectives made a traffic stop and detained the teen.  Detectives found him to be in possession of a BB-gun that matched the weapon used in the robbery.  The boy was booked into the Juvenile Justice Center on charges of assault by means to likely cause great bodily injury, robbery and aggravated battery.

If you become aware of the illegal sale of drugs, please report it to Valley Crime Stoppers at (559) 498-7867 or www.valleycrimestoppers.org
