The Fresno County Sheriff's Office is now using Everbridge to deliver you emergency alerts on your mobile device.

Overview of the Everbridge Mass Notification Service

The Fresno County Sheriff - Coroner's Office wants to stay in direct communication with our residents to alert you to emergencies happening in your neighborhoods and throughout Fresno County.  Our goal is to give you the right information in the right time so you can make the right decisions for your safety.  We now have the ability to stay in touch with you through the Everbridge Mass Notification service .  We have partnered with Everbridge because of its outstanding reputation in the communications industry. You can opt-in for free to receive messages relevant to you based on your location. The information you provide is protected and will not be used for any other purpose.  ***Standard text messaging rates and data rates may apply based on the plan you have with your mobile phone carrier***

How it Works

When we issue a notification about a potential safety hazard or concern, you will receive a message on the voice or text communication methods that you have registered. If requested for the notification, you can confirm that you have received the message and you will not be contacted by any subsequent methods regarding that particular notification. If you do not confirm, the system will continue to attempt to reach you at all of the contact paths that you have registered.

The Fresno County Sheriff - Coroner's Office also has the ability to distribute emergency messages through the Integrated Public Alert & Warning System (IPAWS).  The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) developed this technology to serve as an all-hazard warning system.  Citizens who are in a specific region where an emergency has been identified, will receive a direct text notification to their mobile phones that contain valuable information.  IPAWS uses wireless phone towers to distribute messages to those who are currently in an area or later enter the area where the hazard is taking place.  This works much like the existing AMBER Alert program generated through Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA).  ***Your service carriers' signal strength may limit your ability to receive messages on your mobile phone in particular areas***
