7/2/17 - The Coroner's Office has released the name of the man shot and killed on Saturday near Cedar and Weldon in Fresno.  He is Miguel Valenzuela, 23, of Fresno.

On Saturday, July 1st at about 2:50 PM, the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office received a call of shots being fired from a vehicle at the 2000 block of N. Cedar in Fresno.  At the same time, the Fresno Police Department received calls of a shooting victim at this location.  Fresno Police officers arrived at the scene and found a male suffering from gunshot wounds.  CPR was started on the victim and he was transported to Community Regional Medical Center where he died from his injuries. Due to the location of where the shooting originated, the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office will be handling the investigation.

From early statements received from witnesses, the victim was walking on the east side of Cedar Avenue when a pearl or crème colored sedan stopped along the west curb of Cedar Avenue.  Three males wearing black bandanas exited the vehicle and started shooting at the victim.  The victim was hit but managed to run into a nearby apartment which is where he was located by Fresno Police officers.
