12/7/17 - The victim of a shooting in Orange Cove Wednesday has been identified as Pedro Mantancillas, 40, of Orange Cove.

12/6/17 - Shortly after 1:30 pm on Wednesday, Orange Cove Police officers responded to a call of multiple shots fired on H Street, between Anchor Avenue and 12th Street.

Officers arrived and found an injured man lying on the sidewalk of H Street.  A closer look revealed he was deceased.  Officers closed down the street and requested Fresno County Sheriff’s homicide detectives respond to the scene to take over the investigation.

Detectives arrived along with members of the Sheriff’s Crime Scene Unit.  They have begun canvassing the area, collecting evidence and speaking with potential witnesses.

A description of the suspect(s) is unclear at this point.  It is unknown if they were on foot or in a car when firing the shots.  A motive has also not been established.

The identity of the victim is not being released at this time.  He is described as a Hispanic man, approximately 40 years old.  A deputy coroner will schedule an autopsy for later this week.

This marks the 5th homicide of 2017 in the city of Orange Cove.

Anyone with additional information on this case is asked to contact Sheriff’s dispatchers at (559) 600-3111 or Crime Stoppers at (559) 498-7867.  You will remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward.
