Weeks ahead of Fresno Grizzlies Opening Day on April 9th, the team is calling on the public to help decide who will be the Fresno Famous bobblehead giveaway scheduled for Saturday, August 22nd vs. Round Rock at Chukchansi Park.
To determine a winner, the Grizzlies are running a Fresno Famous Bobblehead Tournament, presented by PG&E, at FresnoGrizzlies.com, with a field of 64 #FresnoFamous individuals competing against one another in a March Madness style bracket. Voting is currently open to the public now at FresnoGrizzlies.com and concludes when the championship round closes voting on Sunday, April 5th at 11:59 p.m.
All those voting are encouraged to use #FresnoFamous and tag the Fresno Grizzlies in social media posts. The winner will be announced Monday, April 6th ahead of the NCAA Men's Basketball National Championship game at Lucas Oil Stadium.
Featured first round matchups include Sheriff Margaret Mims vs. Police Chief Jerry Dyer, Mayor Ashley Swearengin vs. Councilmember Clint Olivier, Fashawn vs. Cher, Kopi Sotiropolus vs. Ray Appleton, Pat Hill vs. Tim DeRuyter, Heidi Watney vs. Nick Watney, B95's Carmen vs. Q97's Greg, Parker vs. known mascot tormentor Robin Lopez, and David Carr vs. Derek Carr.
The winner of the tournament will have their likeness placed on a bobblehead that is given away to the first 1,500 fans at the Saturday, August 22nd Fresno Grizzlies game. The in-game entertainment will also be themed around the winner.
