Ma Delacruz ArcigaAn 18-year-old Reedley woman, who is pregnant, is listed in stable, but critical condition at Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno after being shot in the head.  She is identified as Ma Delacruz Arciga.

Around 10:30 Sunday night, a shooting occurred on the 10800 block of S. Englehart Ave. in Reedley.  Moments earlier, the occupants of two SUVs were involved in a road rage incident that began near the Fresno County / Tulare County line.  It began with the driver of the victim’s vehicle passing the suspect’s vehicle because it was driving slowly.  As the vehicles headed northbound on S. Englehart Ave., the suspect’s SUV pulled alongside the victim’s SUV and someone inside the suspect’s vehicle fired at least one shot into the victim’s vehicle through the driver’s side window.  The passenger, an 18-year-old woman, was struck in the left eye by a bullet.  The driver, the victim’s 26-year-old husband, turned around and drove back into Tulare County.  He pulled off to the side of the road and asked a passerby for help dialing 911.  A Reedley Police officer in the area located the victim’s SUV and followed behind as the husband drove his wife to Adventist Medical Center in Reedley.  An air ambulance later flew the victim to CRMC for emergency surgery.  The woman is 3 months pregnant and her unborn baby is still alive.

Fresno County Sheriff’s homicide detectives and the Crime Scene Unit responded to the scene to interview potential witnesses and collect evidence.  The confrontation appears to have been unprovoked by the husband and wife, so it’s unclear why someone in the suspect’s vehicle resorted to an act of violence.  This is an ongoing investigation and no arrests have been made.

The suspect’s vehicle is described as being a light brown colored 2006 – 2012 Chevy Tahoe, Suburban or GMC Yukon.  There were at least two people in the SUV.  It was last seen driving northbound on S. Englehart toward E. Huntsman Ave.
