Capt. Bob Kandarian (left) & Art SalasThe Exchange Club of Fresno has honored FSO Reserve Deputy Art Salas as its 2015 "Top Cop."

Salas was recognized for his tireless efforts and dedication to serving the citizens of Fresno County. He has been a Reserve Deputy for the past 35 years, rising to the rank of Reserve Lieutenant.  In that time, Salas has volunteered thousands of hours.  He assists in dozens of cases each week in the Civil Department and puts in 40 hours a week, which in turn saves our department valuable resources.

Salas is fluent in Spanish, which is a huge help to the Civil Unit when an interpreter is needed.  Art is a strong member of the community.  He spent 38 years as a teacher of Mendota School District.  All of his experience is a great asset to the Sheriff’s Office.

The Exchange Club also presented "Top Cop" awards to CHP Officer Bill Butler and Fresno Police Officer Vince Zavala. Congratulations to everyone and thank you for your services.
