This past Saturday, deputies and Search & Rescue personnel responded to a rescue call at an area near Stevenson’s Creek & the Shaver Dam.
Shortly before 5:00pm, dispatch had received a call regarding a man stuck in a waterfall at the location. The victim had been canyoneering with friends in Shaver Canyon near the dam when he became stuck under the falls. His friends were unable to get to him and called 911.
Deputies arrived and immediately started the rescue effort. Deputies had to repel several hundred feet down to where the victim was located. When they reached him, he was deceased.
With the assistance of the CHP’s helicopter H40, deputies were eventually able to remove the victim from the river.
