The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office today announced the arrest of a Madera man after leading deputies on a short pursuit of the stolen car he was driving, crashing the car, and then running from deputies. Arrested was 41 year old David Michael Flores.
The incident began early this morning, shortly after 3:30am, when deputies attempted to pull over a brown colored Chevy Tahoe as it sped south on Wilson from Ashlan.
As deputies started to call in the stop, the vehicle crashed into a tree near Wilson & Buckingham. The driver, later identified as Flores, got out and ran into the neighborhood. Deputies quickly established a perimeter.
With the assistance of a Sheriff’s K-9, Flores was tracked to a residence located in the 500 block of E Buckingham Ave. Flores was ultimately discovered hiding on the garage roof. Flores was arrested without further incident. He was also found to be on parole for assault with a deadly weapon.
The vehicle was found to have been stolen from the City of Madera on August 10th. Several items of property were also discovered in the vehicle including shaved keys, commonly used by criminals to steal cars.
Flores was later booked into the Fresno County Jail on charges of vehicle theft, possession of stolen property, possession of burglary tools, resisting arrest, and narcotics violations.
