Property crimes detectives with the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office have booked Saul Estrada, 26, of Riverdale into the Fresno County Jail. He faces a felony charge of robbery and his bail has been set at $30,000.
On Wednesday at 2:00 pm, Saul Estrada entered the Elkhorn Market located at 3126 W. Elkhorn Ave. in Caruthers. He was wearing sunglasses and a sweatshirt with the hood pulled up over his head to disguise his appearance. He walked to a cooler, removed a can of beer and then went to the register to pay for it. When the clerk opened the register to give Estrada his change, he reached over the counter, into the register’s tray and grabbed a handful of cash. Estrada then picked up his beer and ran out of the store. He got into a car and drove away.
Detectives responded to the store and began their investigation. They viewed surveillance video that was taken inside and developed a description of the suspect. Detectives followed some leads and by Thursday afternoon they had identified the suspect as Saul Estrada. A short time later, they went to his home on the 21000 block of S. Marks Avenue in Riverdale and arrested him.
Anyone with additional information on the suspect in this case is asked to please contact the Sheriff’s Office dispatch at (559) 600-3111 or Crime Stoppers at (559) 498-STOP (7867). All tips will remain anonymous and you may be eligible for a cash reward.
