The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office today announced the arrest of a Selma man after he beat and assaulted a 36 year old female with a machete.
Arrested was 23 year old Roque “Rocky” Valencia Jr.This past Saturday morning, shortly before 8:30am, deputies responded to a residence located in the 14000 block of S Academy Ave regarding a disturbance involving a man armed with a machete.
When they arrived, deputies immediately contacted and detained Valencia who was standing outside the residence. Although not armed at the time of his arrest, deputies later recovered the machete inside the residence.
Deputies then contacted the 36 year old female victim who was still inside the residence. Deputies learned the victim had been assaulted on at least three different occasions over the previous week. During the assaults, Valencia threatened to kill the victim. She had been beaten, kicked, choked, and stabbed in the hand.
Valencia, who was on state parole for burglary, was arrested on charges of felony domestic violence, assault with a deadly weapon, criminal threats, and parole violations. He was also found to have an outstanding arrest warrant for burglary. Valencia was later booked into the Fresno County Jail.
