On August 21, officers with the El Monte Police Department arrested 21-year-old Kaleo Schreiner on a rape charge. Fresno County Sheriff homicide detectives are in communication with officers in southern California as each agency continues its own investigation.
The Coroner’s Office has identified Megan Troen, 20, of Tracy, CA as the victim of Fresno County’s seventh homicide of the year.
On the morning of July 30th, workers discovered Troen’s body in the California Aqueduct near W. Nees Ave. and I-5 in the Firebaugh area. FSO Homicide detectives later obtained a murder arrest warrant for Schreiner.
On the night of July 20th, Troen left her house with Schreiner, the two have been acquaintances for several years. The two were only supposed to be gone a short time, but neither returned to the home in Tracy. The next day, Troen’s family members filed a missing person’s report with law enforcement. Troen had a diminished mental capacity and functioned at a lower level than a normal 20 year old person.
