At 5:30 Wednesday morning, deputies were dispatched to the parking lot of Table Mountain Casino in Friant regarding a man suffering from a gunshot wound.
The deputy discovered the man had been shot in the nose with a BB gun. He was transported to Community Regional Medical Center for treatment.
The victim states that earlier in the morning he met a man in the high roller room of the casino and agreed to give that man a ride to Auberry. The two men got into the victim’s car, then the passenger (suspect) got out of the car for a moment and then got back inside. At that time, the suspect pulled out a BB gun and shot the victim in the nose. The suspect got out of the car and ran away. The victim drove to a nearby home on Millerton Road and told the person living there he had been shot. The homeowner called the Sheriff’s Office to report the injury and helped transport the victim back to the casino parking lot to meet with deputies.
This remains an ongoing investigation. A Detective has responded to the scene to try and determine a motive for the assault and identify the suspect. Table Mountain Casino officials are also working with the detective to see if there is any video surveillance footage that can help provide leads in this case.
Detectives are asking anyone with information on this case to please contact the Sheriff’s Office at (559) 600-3111 or Crime Stoppers at (559) 498-STOP (7867).
