4/10/19 - Members of the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Unit have identified 47 year old Daniel Hernandez of Reedley as the man found shot and killed in a Parlier orchard Wednesday afternoon.

An autopsy has been performed on Hernandez and the results of his death are pending further investigation.

At 5:20 pm on Wednesday, April 10, a motorist flagged down an officer with the California Highway Patrol at the intersection of Bethel and Rose Avenues in Selma.  The woman in the car alerted the officer to her two friends that had been shot.  There were four small children in the car as well, none of them suffered injuries.  The officer began to give the man and woman first aid treatment while waiting for medics to arrive on scene.  Sheriff’s deputies were also dispatched to the area.  Deputies learned from one of the victims that they were involved in a disturbance, which lead to a shooting.  It involved a man they knew named Daniel Hernandez, who was last seen in an orchard off Huntsman Ave. in Parlier, between Newmark and Zediker Avenues.  Deputies drove to the orchard and found a vehicle matching Hernandez’.  As they approached, they noticed an injured person (Hernandez) on the ground.  Deputies checked the vehicle and found no one inside.  They then took a closer look at Hernandez and determined he was deceased.  Homicide detectives and the Crime Scene Unit responded to examine evidence at both intersections.

The woman in her mid-20s who was shot remains hospitalized in critical condition.  The man in his mid-20s who was shot has been treated and released from the hospital.

The investigation is being treated as a case of domestic violence.  The man killed and the woman seriously injured were in a dating relationship.  All of the people involved in the disturbance knew each other.  A motive has not been determined.
