The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office today announced the arrest of a Fresno man after he robbed, and then threatened his elderly grandparents. Arrested was eighteen year old Michael Patrick Cook.
The incident began this past Sunday morning when Cook entered his grandparent’s home located in the 5000 block of E McKenzie Ave, while they were in the back yard.
When he was confronted, Cook walked into one of the bedrooms and began unplugging their computer. Realizing what was happening, the 78 year old grandmother started to call the Sheriff’s Office on her cell phone, but stopped when she was threatened by Cook. Cook then took the computer and left. Prior to fleeing, Cook also disconnected the home phone.
Yesterday, deputies received information Cook was again in the neighborhood, but he fled prior to deputies arriving.
Earlier this morning, shortly after 6:00am, deputies arrested Cook as he was sleeping in a small trailer near the McKenzie residence. He was later booked into the Fresno County Jail on charges of robbery, elder abuse, and threatening a witness.
