Pinones-Salazar, J

The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office today announced the arrest of a Coalinga man in connection with an armed robbery of the Travel Lodge Motel at I-5 & Hwy 198. Arrested was 18 year old Juan Carlos Pinones-Salazar.

This past Saturday, shortly before 10:30pm, deputies responded to the motel at 25278 W Dorris Ave regarding the armed robbery call.

The victim reported a masked suspect came to the after-hours window, simulated a handgun, and demanded money. Fearing for his life, the victim gave the suspect all of the money in the cash register. The suspect then fled on foot.

During the investigation, deputies discovered evidence linking the possible suspect with a nearby residence. Deputies contacted the Pinones-Salazar at the residence. Deputies recovered further evidence linking Pinones-Salazar to the robbery.

Pinones-Salazar was eventually arrested and later booked into the Fresno County Jail on charges of robbery.

The investigation is ongoing. Detectives are trying to determine if Pinones-Salazar is responsible for another armed robbery which took place days before at a nearby Motel 6.

Anyone with information on this investigation is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office at 600-3111, or CrimeStoppers at 498-STOP(7867).
