On Sunday, shortly after midnight, Fresno County Sheriff Deputies were dispatched to Community Regional Medical Center regarding a female who arrived at the hospital suffering from stab wounds.
Deputies arrived at the hospital and spoke to the 41 year old victim. The victim told deputies that she had dinner with her 37 year old brother, Oscar Gonzalez in Fresno. The victim said that she and her brother have not talked to each other for about 10 years due to family issues. Gonzalez recently contacted her and they met for dinner. After dinner, Gonzalez and the victim drove to Gonzalez’ residence located at the 8200 block of S. Villa near Fowler.
While at the residence, Gonzalez began to assault the victim inside the residence. The victim was stabbed multiple times during the assault. The suspect’s girlfriend Shawnessa Hinajosa, 41 years, was inside the residence and she assisted Gonzalez in the assault. Gonzalez made statements to the victim that he would be killing her and that he had been planning it out. Gonzalez then dragged the victim into a basement and continued his assault on her. For whatever reason, Gonzalez released the victim and she was able to leave the residence. The victim was able to get a ride to the hospital where she was treated for her injuries and later released.
Fresno County SWAT team members were activated and responded to the residence. After the house was surrounded, the two suspects exited the house and were arrested. Hinajosa’s 16 year old son was also in the residence during in the assault, but was not involved and he was released to a family member. Both suspects will be booked into the Fresno County Jail for attempted murder and additional felony charges.
Anyone with additional information on this case is asked to contact the Fresno County Sheriff’s Detective Donna Davis at 559-600-8207 or Crime Stoppers at 559-498-STOP.
