Cabrera, J

The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office today announced the arrest of a Riverdale man on several charges after he threatened family members with a knife. Arrested was 23 year old Javier Cabrera.

The incident began early this morning, shortly before 12:30am, when deputies responded to a residence located in the 3500 block of W Henson in Riverdale, regarding Cabrera high on methamphetamine and threatening his family members with the knife. The family members were able to get out of the house and call the Sheriff’s Office.

While en route to the call, deputies also learned Cabrera was on felony probation for assault with a deadly weapon.

After arriving, deputies set up a perimeter and began calling for Cabrera to come out of the house. After several minutes, Cabrera exited unarmed, and began complying with the deputies commands.

After a few minutes, Cabrera stood up and stated he wasn’t going to do comply any further.

As the situation started to deteriorate, Cabrera was shot several times with bean bag rounds. The rounds had the desired effect as Cabrera got down on the round and was taken into custody without further incident.

While searching Cabrera’s room, deputies seized the “Rambo” style knife, and a set of nunchackus.

EMS personnel treated Cabrera at the scene for injuries he suffered during the incident. He was cleared and later booked into the Fresno County Jail on charges of brandishing a deadly weapon, possession of an illegal weapon, resisting arrest, and probation violations.

No deputies were injured during the incident.
