This past Saturday at approximately 10:30pm, a man was shot and killed in the town of Laton. The victim is Ronnie Montalvo, 41, a resident of Laton.
Fresno Sheriff’s deputies responded to Gonser St., south of Summit Ave., for a 911 call of shots fired. Deputies found Montalvo lying on the ground. Witnesses report Montalvo was talking with the driver of a parked car when the man pulled a gun and shot him multiple times, then ran over Montalvo as he drove away. The car was last seen heading east on Riverdale Ave.
The suspect is described as a Hispanic man, early to mid-30s with short hair and a mustache. His car is described as a late 90s to early 2000s model Dodge Neon. It is dark in color with poor paint quality.
Following the shooting and prior to deputies arriving, an unrelated stabbing occurred between people who formed a crowd. The person stabbed was not seriously injured.
This is the 14th homicide in Fresno County this year.
