Homicide detectives with the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office have arrested Jairo Mancilla, 25, of Orange Cove.
He has been booked into the Fresno County Jail for two charges of murder and a probation violation. He is accused of killing 27 year old Alex Esquivel and 24 year old Javier Lizaola on March 10, 2017. On April 21, 2017, detectives also served search warrants at three locations in Orange Cove. One at a home located on the 600 block of Anchor Ave. and two on the 300 block of 10th Street. This remains an ongoing investigation.
Around 8:00 pm on March 10, 2017, two juveniles were leaving a store located off Park Blvd. in Orange Cove when they heard gunshots. As they walked home, they found two men injured on the ground near a bike trail at Railroad Ave. and 11th Street. The juveniles immediately went home and notified their family members to call law enforcement to help the injured men. Officers with the Orange Cove Police Department responded and determined both men, Esquivel and Lizaola, had been shot and were deceased. Sheriff’s detectives were called and they took over the investigation.
