On October 21st, 2025, the Fresno County Board of Supervisors held a second required hearing on amending a master schedule of fees associated with obtaining a Concealed Carry Weapon (CCW) permit.

Supervisors approved the master schedule, which will increase fees associated with CCW permits.  The new rates will take effect November 19th, 2025.

The fee increases will allow the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office to recover operating costs, along with employee salary and benefit costs.  The Sheriff’s Office does not make a profit from the issuance of CCW permits; this is a cost neutral move.

The last approved fee adjustment for CCW permits occurred in 2007.  Since then, the volume and complexity of permit processing has increased as California laws have changed. This includes:  Background checks, administrative requirements and staffing needs. The newly approved rates are intended to align fees with the actual cost of providing these services.

Current Rates

New CCW =  $219
Renewal CCW = $83
Making a modification to your permit, address update or adding / removing a firearm, is $10
