Early this morning, Fresno County Sheriff’s Search & Rescue personnel rescued four lost hikers in the area of Huntington Lake.

Last night, shortly before 9:00pm, the Sheriff’s Office received a cell phone call from a hiker who advised that he and three others were lost on a trail near China Peak.

The hikers, all employees of China Peak, had left the resort earlier in the afternoon for a hike along the Rancheria Creek and had become lost when it got dark.  The caller further advised one female had injured her knee, and another was exhausted and hypothermic.

The SAR Team was immediately deployed and responded to a command post set up at China Peak.

Approximately twenty five SAR members responded including mountaineers, and members of the Jeep Squadron.

Teams were deployed shortly after midnight, and the four hikers were located within an hour.

Except for some minor injuries, none of which required medical attention, all were in good shape and transported to China Peak.
