Former Sheriff Richard Pierce

On Wednesday, August 21, Richard Pierce, passed away peacefully with his family at his side.  He was 80 years old.

Pierce began his career as a deputy with the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office in 1966.  He would go on to work a variety of assignments and work his way up the ranks before ultimately being elected as Fresno County’s 24th Sheriff in 1998.  Sheriff Pierce served two terms, beginning in 1999 and ending in 2007.  He would retire from his law enforcement career in that same year of 2007, marking 40 years of public service.  The Fresno County Sheriff’s office appreciates his longtime leadership, dedicated service to the community and sends its love and prayers to his family.

Richard Pierce is survived by his wife, five children and several grandchildren.

The public is invited to celebration of life service being held on Tuesday, September 17 at 10:00 am.  It takes place at the Well Community Church, 325 Nees Ave., Clovis, 93611.
