Homicide detectives with the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office have arrested 21 year old Enrique Rios Hernandez of Fresno.
He has been booked into the Fresno County Jail on charges of murder, possession of a firearm and ammunition by a felon and probation violation. His bail is set at $1.15 million.
The woman Hernandez shot and killed is identified as 19 year old Paulina Gonzalez of Cantua Creek. She was his girlfriend and mother of their child.
Shortly after 3:00 am on Sunday, Fresno County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a gunshot victim at a home located on the 33000 block of W. Hidalgo Ave. in Cantua Creek. There they found Paulina Gonzalez deceased. Homicide detectives were notified and took over the investigation.
Detectives discovered Gonzalez’ boyfriend, Enrique Hernandez, was at the home earlier in the night and then left. Detectives tracked down Hernandez in Fresno and interview him. They learned he shot Gonzalez with a gun he had illegally purchased. Hernandez is a convicted felon who is prohibited from having firearms and ammunition. Detectives arrested Hernandez for murder. This remains an ongoing investigation.
