The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office today announced the arrest of two people on several felony charges after they were caught parked in a stolen truck. Arrested were 22 year old Colt Logan Mercer of Fresno, and 19 year old Alexis Garabedian of Friant.
This morning, shortly after 3:00am, deputies initiated a vehicle check on a black colored Chevy truck parked near the intersection of Chennault & Homsy in the City of Clovis.
While approaching the vehicle, deputies recognized the person seated in the driver seat as Mercer, who was wanted in connection with a previous vehicle theft investigation. Mercer and the passenger, Garabedian, were detained without incident.
During the investigation, the truck was found to have been previously reported stolen from the City of Fresno.
Also discovered were several credit cards believed to be stolen, narcotics and narcotics paraphernalia, and several items of property in shopping bags that had apparently just been purchased.
When the owner of the truck responded to the scene, he confirmed the items in the shopping bags had apparently been purchased with his stolen credit card.
Mercer was arrested on charges of vehicle theft, burglary, possession of stolen property, narcotics charges, and outstanding warrants for burglary and possession of stolen property. Garabedian was arrested on charges of vehicle theft, and possession of stolen property.
