On Wednesday, April 6th, Detectives Floyd Avila and Tim Jacobsen of the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office Property Crimes Unit hand delivered a new bicycle to a 10 year old girl named Samantha.

The Sheriff’s Foundation for Public Safety, our non-profit arm of the FSO, donated the bike.

It was on March 19, 2016, a mother and father of three reported to the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office that some power tools and a purple Schwinn Cruise Bicycle had been stolen from their garage. The mother and father were away from the house and two of the children, a 15 year old boy and 10 year old girl (Samantha) stayed home. A construction worker was in and out of the house doing remodeling as the kids stayed in a room watching TV. As the garage door was left open and no one was inside, a thief came in and stole the items. The loss of the bike has been devastating for Samantha because she had just received it the week before as a birthday gift. Detectives have not had any luck finding it, so they and our community service officers came up with the idea of replacing it with one from the Sheriff’s Foundation.
