Fresno County Sheriff’s homicide detectives are asking for the public’s help identifying the suspects responsible for a shooting on Saturday south of Parlier.

On January 26th at approximately 4:45 pm, deputies were dispatched to a shooting in the area of Mendocino Ave., north of Dinuba Ave.  When deputies arrived, they discovered 22 year old Parlier resident, Juan Carlos Monje.  He was seated in the driver seat of a small silver vehicle parked in the middle of the road and had been shot multiple times.

Emergency medical personnel responded and Monje was immediately transported to Community Regional Medical Center for treatment.  He remains in the hospital and is listed in critical condition.

The investigation revealed Monje had been driving south on Mendocino when another vehicle, also traveling southbound, approached him from behind.  The vehicle pulled into the northbound lane and started to pass the victim’s vehicle.  As it passed, shots were fired into Monje’s car.  The suspect vehicle then continued southbound.

The suspect vehicle was described by witnesses as a smaller, white colored SUV, occupied by three subjects.  It was last seen driving at a high rate of speed, southbound on Mendocino from Dinuba.  Detectives also believe the shooting was gang related.

Detectives believe there were other drivers in the area at the time of the shooting and others who stopped to assist Monje after the incident, but left the scene prior to deputies arriving on scene.

Anyone with information is asked to immediately contact Detective Juan Galindo at 600-8215, Detective Hector Palma at 600-8204 or CrimeStoppers at 498-STOP (7867).
