Detectives with the Fresno County Sheriff’s Property Crimes Unit are seeking the public’s help to identify two men caught on camera vandalizing a water vending machine.
On January 22nd, 2016 at 6:45 am, crimes of vandalism and theft occurred at the A&M Market located at 2104 W. Belmont Ave. in Fresno. A surveillance camera shows a large van pull up and park in front of the store. Two men get out of the van and approach the Glacier water vending machine. One of the men uses a power tool, such as a saw or grinder, to cut through the metal area of the machine where money is inserted. One of the suspects acts as a lookout, shielding his partner as he works to break into the machine. In the video, sparks can be seen flying. After approximately seven minutes, both men get into the van and drive away.
The thieves escaped with about $30 in cash. However, damage to the water machine was about $2,000.
This is the second time the water machine at this store has recently been vandalized. On November 15th, 2015 two men were captured on video trying to pry open the machine with a large metal bar, but were unsuccessful. They caused $900 in damage to the machine. They escaped with about $8.00 worth of ice after breaking into a nearby freezer box. Both of the men in this case were arrested on December 15th. They are Anthony Terrell, 30, of Fresno and Danny Martinez, 23, of Fresno. Both later posted bond to bail out of jail. They are not believed to be the men in the January 22nd case.
