The Fresno County Sheriff – Coroner’s Office has identified 65-year-old Luis Alberto Cruz of Parlier as the victim who died as a result of being shot.
On Friday, at about 4:30 am, the Parlier Police Department responded to a call of shots fired near a home on the 700 block of Merced Street. Officers on scene discovered Cruz lying in a driveway with multiple gunshot wounds to his body. Paramedics transported Cruz to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced deceased. Parlier Police requested the Fresno Sheriff’s Office take over the homicide investigation. Homicide detectives and the Crime Scene Unit arrived on scene and handled the incident.
An armed person was reportedly seen fleeing the scene in 2006 – 2009 silver compact car, possibly a Hyundai or Kia. Detectives continue to interview witnesses to try and develop more information about the suspect(s).
