Around 7:30 pm on Saturday, January 21st, Fresno County Sheriff’s dispatchers received a 911 call of a gunshot victim in the strip mall located at Clovis and Griffith Avenues, near Tarpey Village.

Deputies arrived and learned a robbery attempt involving three male suspects occurred inside the Shanghai Massage Spa. The suspects assaulted one of the spa’s female employees and shot a 61 year old man as he approached the business to check on the workers. The suspects quickly fled the building.

Deputies and EMS personnel worked to transport the man to the hospital. He is listed in critical condition. Doctors expect him to survive his injuries. The woman who was assaulted received medical treatment at the scene.

Surveillance cameras in the shopping center captured video of the three suspects arriving to the business. They are described as young black men with thin builds.
