McKinley and Temperance Avenues in Fresno

On Thursday, 44 year old Amanda Berry was found deceased in the front yard of the home she was living in.

Her injuries were not consistent with a natural death, so Fresno County Sheriff homicide detectives launched an investigation.

At 7:15 am, dispatchers received a call of an unconscious woman on a piece of property located near the southeast corner of McKinley and Temperance Avenues in Fresno. Deputies arrived and attempted CPR on the woman, but she would later be declared deceased.

Homicide detectives and members of our Crime Scene Unit responded to the scene and began collecting evidence and conducting interviews with people on the property and nearby neighbors. The circumstances and motive of the victim’s death remain unclear.

This is the 22nd homicide investigation for our office in 2022. Nine of these investigations originated in various city jurisdictions within Fresno County and our detectives took over the cases.

Anyone who has surveillance video or additional information to aid in this investigation is asked to please contact Sheriff’s Detective Gary Haslam at (559) 600-8209 or Crime Stoppers at (559) 498-7867, www.valleycrimestoppers.org  You will remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward.
