Sandra Garcia, Miguel Carriedo & Mark Roque

3/10/16 - Fresno County Sheriff's detectives have identified and arrested three people involved in the kidnapping of a Clovis teenager.

They are:  Sandra Garcia, 40 of Madera, Miguel Carriedo, 40, of Lompoc and Mark Roque, 18, of Madera.  All three have since been released from the Fresno County Jail because charges were not filed against them.  Detectives discovered this case to be an inside job once they conducted the interview process.

Garcia was dating the victim's father and moved into his house with him.  At the time, his two daughters lived with their mother in Sweden.  The girls later moved back to Clovis to live with their father and Garcia. Garcia became unhappy with the situation and wanted the girls to move back overseas.  She contacted her cousin, Carriedo and her son, Roque and had them carry out her plan to kidnap the 13 year old girl to put a scare in her so that she would want to move away.

The Sheriff's Office is currently awaiting the results of some forensic tests before it resubmits the case to the District Attorney's Office.

Detectives are asking anyone who may have spoken with the suspects about the crime to make a report.  You can do this by dialing (559) 600-8144.  You may also contact Valley Crime Stoppers.  You will remain anonymous and may be eligible for $2,000 reward.  You can reach Crime Stoppers by calling (559) 498-STOP (7867).

2/19/16 - Fresno County Sheriff’s Office detectives are hoping homeowners in the eastern portion of the county can help them solve a recent kidnapping case involving a 13 year old girl.

The suspects fled in a silver 90s model BMW with tinted windows.

Detectives are looking for surveillance video along the following roadways:

- Highway 168 to Sample Road, then north on Pittman Hill Road, onto Tollhouse Road, east on Burrough Valley Road and then onto Sycamore Road.

- Highway 168 to Tollhouse Road, to Burrough Valley Road and then onto Sycamore Road.

We know there are several homes located along these routes that may be equipped with video surveillance cameras, which could have captured footage of the roadway and suspects’ car.  We ask that these homeowners save that video, specifically any recorded this past Tuesday between 2 – 6 pm, and contact our detectives immediately so they can review it.  You can do this by dialing (559) 600-8144.

It should be noted that Valley Crime Stoppers has increased its reward for information in this case to $2,000.  You can reach Crime Stoppers by calling (559) 498-STOP (7867).  As always, you will remain anonymous.

We understand this incident has left some of our citizens scared for the safety of themselves and their children.  However, we would like to ease those nerves.  While this continues to be an ongoing investigation, detectives have determined that this kidnapping was not a random act, but rather that this victim and her family were targeted.  Detectives have interviewed several people and developed persons of interest.  The Sheriff’s Office is not at liberty to give details as to how detectives have reached this conclusion, but it’s important to assure the public that everything possible is being done to bring justice to the victim, her family and the entire community.

2/16/16 - Fresno County Sheriff’s Office detectives are investigating a kidnapping case and need the publics’ help locating the suspects’ car.

It is described as a late 90s silver BMW.  It has tinted windows and possible body damage, including a rear taillight that is cracked in half.

Around 3:15 pm on Tuesday, a 13 year old girl returned to her home near E. Shepherd and Academy Ave. in Clovis.  A group of young men, possibly as many as four, were on the outside of the house and approached her before she went inside.  The suspects, who wore masks, grabbed the girl, stripped her backpack away and then forced her into their BMW car.  They drove her approximately 20 miles away to the area of Sycamore Road and Coyote Drive in Tollhouse. The suspects took the teenager out of the car, punched and kicked her and then fled the area in their car.  The girl was able to walk for a little over a mile and find help from a homeowner in the area.  Around 4:30 pm, the homeowner called the Sheriff’s Office.  Deputies and paramedics contacted the girl and arranged for her to be transported to a local hospital for medical treatment.  Doctors expect her to make a full recovery.

This is an ongoing investigation.  A motive for this kidnapping is unknown.  The victim does not know any of her attackers.

Anyone with additional information on this case should call the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office at (559) 600-3111 or Crime Stoppers at (559) 498-STOP (7687).  You will remain anonymous and may be eligible for a $1,000 cash reward.
