Homicide detectives with the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office have arrested 18 year old Ethan Lopez and 24 year old Sage Martinez, both of Orange Cove.

They have been booked into the Fresno County Jail on murder charges and both have bail amounts of $3 million.

Around 7:30 pm on Friday, March 3rd, Orange Cove Police officers were dispatched to a call of shots near the intersection of J and 10th Streets. Upon arrival, officers found two young men inside a car who had been shot. EMS personnel immediately transported both to the hospital. 18 year old Ruben Velazquez of Orange Cove died as a result of his injuries. The other young man, a 17 year old, was later released from the hospital.

Detectives determined this was a targeted shooting, not a random act.
