The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office would like to announce the arrest of 59-year-old Leuth Sengsongkham of Fresno. He faces two counts of murder.
On May 1st, Sengsongkham was transported from Henderson, NV to Fresno and booked into the Fresno County Jail.
On April 18th at approximately 7:30 pm, deputies were dispatched to check on the welfare of two people lying in a dirt field located on the 7400 block of S. Chestnut Ave. in Fresno County. Deputies discovered a man and a woman who had been shot and killed. The Coroner's Office has identified the female victim as Rattama Choumramamy, 47, and the male victim as Somkeo Thongkhamvilay, 58. Choumramamy was Sengsongkham’s wife and Thongkhamvilay was a friend of the couple. The preliminary investigation shows they were shot earlier that morning while working in the field. Homicide detectives identified Sengsongkham as a possible suspect and notified law enforcement to be on the lookout for his 2010 Toyota Camry. A short time after that notice was issued, the police department in Henderson called our detectives and said Sengsongkham had turned himself into their office and was in police custody.
Sunday morning, the Sheriff’s Office Air Support Unit flew detectives to Henderson to interview the suspect. Early indications are that a perceived love triangle is what motivated Sengsongkham to kill his wife and the male victim. Detectives have recovered the suspect’s vehicle and a gun believed to be used in the murders. The Sheriff’s Office would like to thank Henderson Police for its assistance in this investigation.
These are the first two homicides of the year in Fresno County.
