Homicide detectives with the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office have arrested 19 year old Andrew Leon of Marina, CA for murder.
He has been booked into the Fresno County Jail.
Around 2:00 am on Sunday, November 26th, Huron Police responded to a call of shots fired on the 36000 block of Mouren Drive in Huron. Officers found a woman in the roadway who was suffering from gunshot wounds. She later died at the scene. The victim was identified as 37 year old April Diaz of Huron.
Due to this being a homicide, Huron Police requested Fresno County Sheriff’s detectives take over the investigation. Detectives and members of our Crime Scene Unit responded to Huron to collect evidence and speak with witnesses.
Detectives learned Leon was dating Diaz’ daughter. Leon and Diaz got into an argument outside her home, which resulted in Leon shooting Diaz and fleeing the scene.
Sunday evening, the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office contacted our detectives to report Leon had turned himself in to them for a murder committed in Huron. Our detectives met with Monterey deputies at the county line and took Leon into custody. He was later booked into jail.
