Homicide detectives with the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office have arrested 22 year old Cameron Wright of Fresno.

He has been booked into the Fresno County Jail on a charge of murder. His bail is set at $1 million.

Around 10:00 pm on Monday, Fresno County Sheriff’s dispatchers took a call regarding a domestic violence incident. Deputies responded to a home on the 8300 block of S. Hayes Ave. in Fresno, but near Raisin City. There they contacted a man who lived there named Cameron Wright. After beginning an investigation, deputies developed evidence that he committed a murder. Deputies determined the victim was his girlfriend. They searched an orchard approximately two miles away and found a woman’s body, which had been dismembered.

Detectives responded to the scene along with members of our Crime Scene Unit. They conducted interviews and gathered evidence. They later arrested Wright for committing homicide.

The Coroner’s Office believes the victim to be 24 year old Samantha Sharp of Porterville. However, her identity still needs to be confirmed through an official process.

This remains an ongoing investigation. It marks the Sheriff’s Office first homicide investigation of 2023.
