The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office today announced the arrest of a Kerman man after he assaulted a deputy during a vehicle stop. Arrested was 21 year old Jorge Lugo Solorio.
The incident began this past Friday night, shortly before midnight, when the deputy pulled Solorio over for speeding near the intersection of Hwy 180 & Del Norte.
During the stop, Solorio was asked to exit his vehicle which he did. During the investigation, Solorio became aggressive and assaulted the deputy. The fight went to the ground where the deputy was able to request assistance. The deputy was able to hold Solorio on the ground until responding Kerman PD units arrived to help take him into custody.
During the incident, Solorio sustained a laceration to his face. He was transported to Community Regional Medical Center for treatment. He was later booked into the Fresno County Jail on charges of battery on a peace officer with injury, resisting arrest, and several vehicle code violations.
The deputy received severe abrasions to his shoulder and complained of pain to his shoulder and knee. He is currently off duty as a result of the incident.
