The Fresno County District Attorney’s Office has filed criminal charges against 42 year old Fresno County Sheriff’s Deputy Francisco “Frank” Perez.

This includes a felony charge of contacting a minor with intent to commit a sex crime and a misdemeanor charge of annoying a minor. After receiving a report on March 30th, 2023, an investigation was immediately launched and Perez was placed on paid administrative leave at the time. Perez has since been booked into the Fresno County Jail. His bail is set at $20,000.

On March 30th, allegations were made that in late 2022, Perez engaged in inappropriate behavior with a female who was under the age of 18. Due to this being a private, sensitive matter, we are not revealing specific details as to what occurred. However, we can say there is no evidence to show anything physical took place between Perez and the teenager. Regardless, this is disturbing news that must be shared in order to be upfront and transparent with you, our community members.

“Our office has a zero-tolerance policy for misconduct and any allegations of it are treated as a top priority. You have our department’s full commitment to continue this mission and I encourage everyone to report any concerns to us you may have right away.”
-Sheriff John Zanoni
