12/15/17 - The victim has been identified as 27 year old Anahi Arias of Mendota.

12/13/17 - Shortly before 10:00 am on Wednesday, workers in the Cantua Creek area reported seeing a body floating in the California Aqueduct.

Sheriff’s deputies responded to W. Davis Ave. and S. San Mateo Ave. and located the body of a woman in the canal.  Members of the Sheriff’s Dive Team later arrived and removed the body from the waterway.  Homicide detectives and members of the Crime Scene Unit also responded to the scene to collect evidence.

The woman’s body has been transported to the Coroner’s Office, where an autopsy will take place at a later time.  The woman’s identity and age are not being released at this time.  Until a cause of death is determined, this is being considered a suspicious death.
