On Monday, December 29th, Fresno County Sheriff’s arrested 39-year-old Arayik Karapetyan of Rancho Cordova, CA.
Around 9:30 pm, deputies were dispatched to check on a suspicious vehicle in the area of Chateau Fresno and Ashlan Ave. Deputies found a car parked in an orchard, which was missing its front and rear license plates. Deputies contacted the man inside, who was identified as Arayik Karapetyan. Karapetyan could not provide a valid reason as to why he was parked in the orchard. During a search of the car, deputies discovered numerous knives, a wood police baton and a replica BB pistol which had a tactical light attached to it. Other items seized from the car were a bundle of large zip ties, several tactical gloves, a box of black latex gloves, rope and tape. All of the items had just recently been purchased. The evidence shows Karapetyan may have been preparing to commit a home invasion robbery in the area.
Karapetyan was booked into the Fresno County Jail on a charge of illegally possessing a deadly weapon (wood police baton).
Anyone with information about Karapetyan should report it immediately. Call the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office at (559) 600-3111 or Crime Stoppers at (559) 498-STOP (7867).
