William Adkins

Around 4:00 pm on Thursday, Fresno County Sheriff’s deputies arrested 31 year old William Adkins of Selma.

Deputies found Adkins hiding inside a small building while conducting a search of the property at Shorty’s Camp.  Shorty’s Camp is a former motel that’s since been transformed into housing for workers.  It’s located at 9533 S. Golden State Blvd. in Selma.  Adkins was a wanted parolee who was wanted for a probation violation.  He now faces a new felony charge of burglary, being a felon in possession of ammunition, domestic violence and could possibly face other charges.

Around 7:00 am, the Sheriff’s Office received a report that Adkins was seen at Shorty’s Camp.  Once deputies arrived on scene, Adkins was nowhere to be found.  Deputies searched the area, but could not find him.

Around 10:00 am, the Sheriff’s Office received a call that Adkins was back in the area.  Deputies responded again and this time they saw him walking near the intersection of Dinuba and Leonard.  As deputies tried to contact Adkins, he took off running through a vineyard, heading back toward Shorty’s Camp.  Adkins dropped a bag in the vineyard which contained loose ammunition and a magazine with ammunition in it.  Deputies setup and perimeter and called in more resources, including a K-9, members of the SWAT team and their equipment.  Deputies searched several apartments at Shorty’s Camp, but were unable to locate Adkins anywhere.  They narrowed down an area where he might be hiding and during the course of clearing buildings, they found Adkins inside a small building.  He was taken into custody without incident.  A search of the room where Adkins was hiding revealed a loaded handgun.  (pictured below)
