Meche Rosales & Raul Gomez

Fresno County Sheriff’s deputies have arrested 40 year old Meche Rosales of Fresno and 44 year old Raul Gomez of Fresno.

Both were then booked into the Fresno County Jail.  Rosales was later released from jail after being cited for misdemeanors of DUI and cruelty to a child.  Gomez is scheduled to be released from the jail and will be cited for misdemeanors of public intoxication and cruelty to a child.

At 2:40 pm on Friday, a citizen reported seeing a couple passed out in their car with a 10 month old baby in the backseat.  Fresno County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the intersection of N. Del Mar and W. Mesa Avenues in Fresno.  They found the car parked next to a park.  Rosales, who was in the driver’s seat and Gomez, who was in the passenger seat, woke up shortly after deputies arrived.  Several bottles of vodka were found inside the car.  Rosales appeared to be drunk and Gomez looked to be under the influence of methamphetamine.

Medics were called to the scene and evaluated the baby, who checked out to be ok.  Deputies learned that Rosales was the designated babysitter.  The child’s mother was called and she showed up to take custody of her baby.  She was at work and had no idea her friend Rosales had been drinking.

Anyone with additional information on the suspects in this case should call the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office dispatch center at (559) 600-3111 or Crime Stoppers at (559) 498-STOP (7867).  You will remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward.
