Deputies with the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office have booked 28-year-old Steve Navarro into the Fresno County Jail.

On Wednesday, at around 2:30 pm, a robbery occurred at the Country Corner Market located at 11024 S. Fowler Ave. in Selma. Navarro entered the store wearing a black ski mask and was armed with a machete. He began waving the large knife around, yelling at the clerk, threatening to kill her. Navarro demanded money from the register and the clerk handed over an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspect left the store and fled on a bicycle.

The clerk told detectives that she recognized the suspect as being a regular customer. Detectives learned of a possible home where the suspect might be and deputies canvassed the area. A short time later, a deputy found Navarro hiding in an orchard and arrested him.
