Elizandro Diaz Fresno County Sheriff’s deputies have arrested 21-year-old Elizandro Diaz of Selma.

He has been booked into the Fresno County Jail on two counts of attempted murder and assault with a firearm.

On Monday at approximately 9:45 am, Diaz fired shots at two men near the intersection of E. Adams and Alta Ave., a county portion of Reedley.

The victims were driving on E. Adams Ave. from Orange Cove to go to work in Sanger.  They noticed a dark blue Honda parked on the side of the road with Diaz in the driver’s seat.  The victims, who are self-admitted gang members, said they recognize Diaz as being a rival gang member who often carries a gun.  Diaz got on the road and began to follow the two men.  The victim driving sped up to get away from Diaz and says his speed reached 100 mph.  The victim knew he had to stop at the four-way intersection of Alta and Adams, but was afraid Diaz might shoot them.  The victim decided to pull into a friend’s driveway instead.  Both men got out of the car and shouted at Diaz, asking him what his problem was.  Diaz then pointed a black handgun out his window, causing both men to run away.  The men heard several gunshots ring out, but they were not struck. Diaz then drove away.  The victims returned to their car and found that four bullets hit it.

Later in the afternoon, detectives and members of the M.A.G.E.C. Rural Team gained information on the possible whereabouts of Diaz and traveled to a home on the 2600 block of Dennis Drive in Selma.  They observed Diaz in front of the home, getting into a dark blue 2015 Honda Accord.  An officer with Selma Police notified deputies in the area of the direction Diaz was driving.  A deputy made a traffic stop on the car and took Diaz into custody without incident.  During a search of Diaz’ car, deputies found a loaded black 9mm handgun and ammunition in a zippered compartment behind the driver’s seat. Deputies also later obtained a search warrant for the home on Dennis Drive.

Detectives are asking anyone with information on Elizandro Diaz to please contact the Sheriff’s Office at (559) 600-3111 or Crime Stoppers at (559) 498-STOP (7867).
