Suspect's Vehicle, Ronald Lemke, Victim's Vehicle

Fresno County Sheriff’s deputies have booked Ronald Lemke, 49, of Fresno into the Fresno County Jail.

He faces felony charges of evading police, assault with a deadly weapon, hit and run and other miscellaneous offenses.  His bail has been set at $64,500.

Just before 11:00 pm on Saturday, August 6, Ronald Lemke nearly struck two different deputies with his pickup.  He was recklessly driving without any headlights on in the area of Highway 41 and Shields Ave. in Fresno.  Both deputies activated their lights and sirens and attempted a traffic stop on Lemke, but he failed to pull over.  He continued to drive at speeds of 90 mph as the deputies pursued him.  The pursuit traveled about six miles to the area of Butler and Cedar Avenues in Fresno.  Lemke ultimately crashed into the rear end of a Jeep that was carrying a family of five, which included small children.  Lemke continued to try and drive away, but a mechanical failure caused him to stop in the intersection.  Deputies surrounded Lemke’s pickup and took him into custody.  They found Lemke to be naked and showing signs of being under the influence of drugs.  Deputies searched the pickup and found packages of methamphetamine.  He was taken to Community Regional Medical Center and treated for injuries and later booked into jail.

The front passenger of the Jeep suffered a broken leg and a small child in the Jeep sustained a minor cut to the face.

Anyone with any additional information on Ronald Lemke is asked to call the Fresno Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center at 559-600-3111 or Crime Stoppers at 559-498-STOP (7867).  You will remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward.
