Deputies have arrested 24 year old Lizeth Alaniz Perez of Selma.
She has been booked into the Fresno County Jail on several felony gun-related charges. Her bail is set at $266,000.
On Tuesday, Lizeth Alaniz Perez entered the main lobby of the Fresno County Superior Courthouse. She was carrying her infant and diaper bag as she approached the security screening station. As her bag passed through the x-ray machine, a sheriff’s community service officer detected an object resembling a gun. After opening the bag, it was confirmed to be a loaded handgun, which deputies confiscated.
Deputies placed the woman under arrest and turned her two and a half month old child over to workers with Fresno County Child Protective Services.
The Sheriff’s Office reminds the public that when visiting courthouses, all weapons are not allowed. This includes firearms, knives and pocketknives of all sizes, tear gas, stun guns, scissors, knitting needles, etc. Food and beverages, including water, also cannot be brought into the courthouse.
