The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office today announced the arrest of a Fresno man, currently on felony probation, on several charges after he was caught stealing items from a farm in western Fresno County. Arrested was 37 year old Donald Ray Edlund.
Yesterday, shortly before 7:30pm, deputies responded to the farming business, located in the 6500 block of W Kearney Ave regarding a burglar alarm call.
After reporting the alarm, the owner of the property immediately responded and discovered an unknown, white colored van parked just north of the business. He stood by with the van until deputies arrived.
Arriving deputies searched the business but found no one. However, they did find two areas in the fence that had been cut. Outside the fence, deputies discovered several items of the victim’s property.
Eagle One responded to assist and discovered a subject lying in a field approximately 100 yards east of the business. Deputies located and detained the subject, later identified as Edlund.
Edlund was taken into custody after it was learned he had two outstanding warrants for his arrest, and was on felony probation.
The investigation revealed the van belonged to Edlund. Numerous items of stolen property were located inside the vehicle. Evidence inside the business also implicated Edlund in the theft.
In addition to the arrest warrants and probation violation, Edlund was charged with grand theft, possession of stolen property, possession of burglary tools, and possession of methamphetamine. He was later transported to the Fresno County Jail where he was booked.
